Misericordia (Miséricorde) | 103 mins| France | Alain Guiraudie |  Watch the trailer!

At 5pm enjoy a comedy that follows a thirty-year-old Jérémie who returns to Saint-Martial to attend an old friend’s funeral. In this village full of things left unsaid, he finds himself the target of rumour and suspicion, to the point he commits an irreparable act and finds himself at the centre of a police investigation. Book tickets here.
In this exhilarating dark comedy that rocked the Cannes Film Festival, death is everywhere and yet a vital impetus defines all relations, gradually elevating scenes to stunning highs of comic outburst and philosophical shrewdness.

Jérémie comes back to the village where he used to live because a man he loved has just died. His presence disturbs a balance within the small community, with people reacting to him in intensely physical ways. Unearthing guilty secrets seems to come more easily to those ready to explore the dark corners of a forest to find the most delicious mushrooms.

The intimate bond between comedic culmination and a deep understanding of mankind’s common fatal destiny was never expressed so clearly. Misericordia is the crowning masterwork of French auteur Alain Guiraudie.
